“I’m fortunate because, for whatever reason, I’ve never looked at myself as, ‘Oh, my gosh, I have to be the most beautiful.’ I’ve always worked from the inside out, not the outside in.”—Connie Britton (via ahsconfessions)
Hi! I wanted to ask you too about what worked the best for you, regarding weightloss. Like you said, as a fellow short person, I'm curious to know :)
So in terms of exercise, I often switch things up on a weekly basis. I walk and run, do ab workouts, pilates, Insanity videos, and stretching. I do not have the mental capacity to follow a exercise plan on a day to day basis. Also, I feel like this ‘tricks’ my body and works effectively.
For eating, I have learned to always eat at least 30 minutes after waking up. And every morning I have an herbal tea. This routine automatically alerts my brain into thinking healthy. I’m in class 6-10 hours a day, depending on the day. So, to avoid hunger and potential binging, I bring fresh veggies, greek yogurt and egg whites. Not always the same, but that’s a typical snack/lunch for me.
I don’t count calories or carbs. I eat off of smaller size plates, this way my body feels like I’m eating the most, while still controlling my portions. I’ve tried the whole calorie counting, but I always tell myself: “I’ve only eaten 1200 calories, I can eat another 300 and workout tonight”. Then I eat the other 300 and postpone working out until the next day. By NOT counting calories, I force myself to workout when I should.
Also, once a week I try to have a ‘pure protein’ day. Where I literally eat egg whites, meats, non-fat dairy etc. It’s from the Dukan diet. And it keeps me on track. I am NEVER hungry when I do this, you can eat as much protein as you want.
I’m FAR from having a perfect routine though. As a University student I drink. And drinking is my ULTIMATE downfall. I’ve cut down a lot, but one night of drinking ruins my whole routine. So when I’m not in THAT funk, above is what I do!!
My friend just got news that his 16 month old niece is dying. I’m beyond upset for him and his family. So here is what I say to everyone, from a weight loss perspective (because it’s the general theme of this tumblr).
You hear the “don’t take life for granted” speech constantly. But seriously.. get off your asses and make something of yourselves! I’m not saying make a life long plan. Go out and have fun tonight. Remember the reason you’re on this planet, to LIVE.
Do NOT hate on yourself when you mess up. Goals are meant to be kept, but by failing and not keeping some you are more driven and determined to succeed in the future.
Don’t beat yourself up when you decide to stay in bed instead of workout. Don’t regret working out only 3 days a week instead of 4. Do NOT sacrifice eating for the remainder of the day when you had a fatty, calorie infused meal. And do not regret having a sweet. I say A sweet and not a whole pound of sugar.
Just learn to love yourself and be happy that you’re TRYING! Weight loss is a marathon not a race!
