What are hip dips and why you stop caring about them.
Lately on my dash I’ve been seeing posts about hip dips, and anonymous questions on how to prevent hip dips or how much they hate theirs.
I just want to let you know that it’s normal. The celebrities or girls in your thinspo tags that you see that don’t have it either are wearing spanx, they’re photo shopped, or you just plain don’t see it.
I have never met any one that didn’t have one. It’s part of our anatomy, and on some is more noticeable than others. It all depends on your body type, muscle, and fat distribution.
Most children in north america have heard this song in pre-school and kinder garden, but for most it’s been a while so I thought I’d give you a refresher course.
With the leg bone connected to the knee bone, and the knee bone connected to the thigh bone, and the thigh bone connected to the hip bone.

That is exactly what a “hip dip” is. It’s because the femur attaches to the acetabulum which is made up of all three hip bones: the ilium, ischium, and pubis.
You get a hip dip from being born with a skeleton.

Those celebrities/thinspo girls that you look up to and think, “oh I wish I didn’t have a hip dip. They are so lucky they don’t have one.” Hate to break it to ya (not really), but they have it too.

Hey look it’s Mily cyrus, Beyonce, and Kelly brook. They all have one!
Oh wait, I have more! All in their unphotoshopped glory! :D

Even ryan gosling has one.

Everyone has one, but sometimes it’s not as noticeable. Men and women have it, but it’s more noticable on women because our hips are generally wider. Like I said earlier it’s really about fat, and muscle distribution. Some women have it more noticeable, some don’t, but it doesn’t mean it’s not there. I know I have it, and I have never met anyone who is like “ew your hip dip is so gross.”
Remember the picture with Brittany spears vs Photoshop? Even she has one.

We have to Remember that we live in a world where spanx is readily available to smooth out our lumps and insecurities to common folk and celebrities alike. Along with photoshop to take away “imperfections” on celebrities so we can feel shitty about ourselves. All while we read magazines or see adverts with conflicting messages like “you’re beautiful” and an advert for make up right or weight loss tips next to it.
You’re in trouble when you want to stop looking human. Seriously guy and gals, everyone has one as long as you keep your skeleton.

Thank you for this post. I honestly thought I was just really weird looking because I never noticed others looked like this too :)

wonderfully informative.
I had mostly noticed hip dips on people I notice have the kind of hip cut i want.  Not boney, but clearly defined muscles by the hipbones in a V shape (look up Pink in a bikini or most men. I like that).  I always assumed the very pronounced hip dip was a result of wide hip bones along with well developed quads so it was an “athlete thing”.  So Ive actually wanted hip dips.
It’s good to know that I will have one no matter what, it’s just a matter of fat distro and muscle development that will make it pronounced like I want.

I shovelled the snow for my parents yesterday.

I’m SO sore. My back, obliques, abs and deltoids are aching beyond belief.

It was a pleasant surprise.

at-least-im-trying:

1. Build muscle

Our bodies constantly burn calories, even when we’re doing nothing. This resting metabolic rate is much higher in people with more muscle. Every pound of muscle uses about 6 calories a day just to sustain itself, while each pound of fat burns only 2 calories daily. That small difference can add up over time. In addition, after a bout of resistance training, muscles are activated all over your body, increasing your average daily metabolic rate.

2. Step up your workout

Aerobic exercise may not build big muscles, but it can rev up your metabolism in the hours after a workout. The key is to push yourself. High-intensity exercise delivers a bigger, longer increase in resting metabolic rate than low- or moderate-intensity workouts. To get the benefits, try a more intense class at the gym or include short bursts of jogging during your regular walk.

3. Fuel up with water

The body needs water to process calories. If you are even mildly dehydrated, your metabolism may slow down. In one study, adults who drank eight or more glasses of water a day burned more calories than those who drank four. To stay hydrated, drink a glass of water or other unsweetened beverage before every meal and snack. In addition, try munching on fresh fruits and vegetables, which are full of fluid, rather than pretzels or chips.

4. Sinless snacking

Eating more really can help you lose weight — eating more often, that is. When you eat large meals with many hours in between, you train your metabolism to slow down. Having a small meal or snack every 3 to 4 hours keeps your metabolism cranking, so you burn more calories over the course of a day. Several studies have also shown that people who snack regularly eat less at meal time

5. Spice up your meals

Spicy foods contain chemical compounds that kick the metabolism into high gear. Eating a tablespoon of chopped red or green chili pepper can boost your metabolic rate. The effect is likely temporary, but if you eat spicy foods often, the benefits may add up. For a quick boost, spice up pasta dishes, chili, and stews with red-pepper flakes.

6. Recharge with green tea

Drinking green tea or oolong tea offers the combined benefits of caffeine and catechins, substances shown to rev up the metabolism for a couple hours. Research suggests that drinking two to four cups of either tea may push the body to burn 17% more calories than normal for a short period of time.

Healthy Sausage Pasta
Go to your local butcher and purchase chicken or turkey sausage. It’s much healthier for you, and they can list everything they put in.
-3/4 c. whole wheat pasta
-1 chicken/turkey sausage
-sliced bell peppers
-sliced onion
-spaghetti sauce (I used marinara sauce)
-minced garlic, and a touch of oil
-red pepper flakes
It’s easy, cook the pasta according to instructions.  In a skillet, on medium heat, place oil: garlic, sliced sausage, peppers and onions. Cook until sausage is cooked through and vegetables are slightly soft.
Add the sauce, heat until warm. Assemble pasta and fixings ontop. Voila.

omg i am making these ASAP
I’m fortunate because, for whatever reason, I’ve never looked at myself as, ‘Oh, my gosh, I have to be the most beautiful.’ I’ve always worked from the inside out, not the outside in.
